Sonia V. Jimenez is a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) where she investigates and prosecutes ransomware and other cybercrime cases and supports the development and implementation of cyber policy, including in connection with countering ransomware. Prior to joining CCIPS, Sonia served for one year as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division handling a portfolio that included cyber, national security, and international matters. She also previously worked in DOJ Criminal Division’s Capital Case Section. Before joining DOJ, Sonia worked for 12 years as a state prosecutor in the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas, Nevada, where, among other positions, she headed the Gang Unit.
