T.J. Rylander

T.J. Rylander is a venture capital investor based in Palo Alto, California. He is currently a General Partner at Next47, the independent venture firm backed by Siemens, where he focuses on investments in connected devices and industrial solutions, especially security, data management, and robotics. Prior to next47, T.J. was Managing Partner at In-Q-Tel (“IQT”), the strategic venture firm affiliated with the U.S. Intelligence Community. During T.J.’s 10 year tenure at IQT, he led investments in leading technology startups including FireEye (NASDAQ: FEYE), Cloudera (NYSE: CLDR), Pure Storage (NYSE: PSTG), Cloudant (Acquired by IBM), and Platfora (acquired by Workday). In addition to sourcing, negotiating, and managing investments, T.J. led IQT’s West Coast Investments professionals. He also served as co-lead for the Company’s Infrastructure and Security practice. T.J.’s earlier career included time as a Project Leader at Boston Consulting and several years in various finance roles at Enron, focused especially on international energy development and clean energy M&A. T.J. has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in Finance from the University of Virginia.
