Adrian McNamara is a Cybersecurity Program Manager for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). In this role, Mr. McNamara leads programs to enhance NRECA member cybersecurity posture, advocates for improved policies for rural electric cooperatives, and supports other programmatic initiatives, like NRECA’s threat analysis center (TAC).
Prior to this role, Mr. McNamara worked at the American Public Power Association (APPA) where he led cybersecurity programs supporting public power utilities. Mr. McNamara also has 10 years of experience working within government agencies in program management roles, including as Strategy and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Policy Advisor for DOE’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER). In this role, he led operations surrounding CESER’s IIJA implementation and managed its organizational strategy.
Mr. McNamara also worked at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as an IT Specialist, for the VA Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in the strategic planning and program integration team. As an IT Specialist, Mr. McNamara managed projects across VA’s cybersecurity program.
He also has experience in IT and cybersecurity communications for several private and public organizations.
