Appointed to the Executive Board of the Cyber Reserve (CR-ISAC) by Major General Vic Macias, Katrina contributes to advancing the organization’s mission of safeguarding critical services, including water, food, hospitals, energy, transportation, and logistics, strengthening national security in the face of modern cyber challenges.
In July 2025, she will defend her doctoral dissertation at The George Washington University, where her research has led to the development of ‘SECUREGRID,’ a context-aware behavioral adaptation methodology designed to address vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure.
During her doctorate program, Katrina co-founded a cybersecurity company specializing in securing smart devices (IoT) at the chipset level to address the growing threat landscape and national security risks. The startup was recognized for its innovation, winning GWU’s 2025 New Venture competition. Her work was guided by the ‘secure by design’ principle championed by CISA, ensuring the development of resilient technologies. She has led successful pre-seed fundraising efforts and advises disruptive tech companies, ranging from AI-driven healthcare startups to quantum computing ventures.
A nationally recognized expert in cybersecurity, AI, and quantum resistance, Katrina provides regular commentary in Fast Company. Katrina completed Oxford’s Said Business School Blockchain Strategy program, successfully conducting her use case in the critical healthcare sector.
She served on the Board of Directors at St. Rose Hospital for 14 years, where she was instrumental in securing $16M in strategic funding and leading the hospital through its M&A process.
As Managing Director of KRR Ventures, Katrina provides specialized strategic guidance to Venture Capital Firms, capital markets, and emerging tech startups in cybersecurity, AI, quantum computing, and resilience. With a proven track record in evaluating transformative technologies, Katrina partners with startups that have the potential to create a meaningful impact for humanity through their innovations.
Previously appointed by California Governor Schwarzenegger to a state consumer affairs board, Katrina now advises California Policy Solutions on cybersecurity and emerging tech. She also leads healthcare innovation strategy at the Ascendant Group, a Top 100 PR News firm.
