Trevaughn Smith was a Future of Digital Security Associate at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST), where he actived supports the Ransomware Task Force and other crucial IST initiatives. With a solid foundation in computer security and data privacy, Trevaughn is dedicated to advancing conversation and research around cyberdefense, with a focus on cyber-poor communities.

Before joining IST, Trevaughn served as a strategist at Middle Seat, a digital firm known for its commitment to ethical grassroots fundraising strategies in support of progressive candidates and causes.

Trevaughn earned his Masters in Public Policy from American University in May of 2023, and completed his Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Computer Science from Hartwick College.

When not immersed in the world of cybersecurity, Trevaughn channels his creativity into professional portrait and wedding photography. With a penchant for capturing authentic and timeless moments, he traverses the DC metropolitan area, crafting memorable images that resonate with his clients.
