Fatima Faisal Khan is an Associate for Ecosystem Trust & Safety at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST). Fatima holds a Master’s in Global Affairs from the University of Notre Dame, where she also served as the Assistant Director at the PeaceTech and Polarization Lab. In this role, she coordinated with global tech stakeholders, NGOs, and academic institutions on multiple projects. As part of her program, she completed a fellowship with the Human Rights Team at the Wikimedia Foundation, addressing human rights and advocacy challenges faced by editor communities across South Asia. Her Master’s thesis examined election-time influence operations in the United States, India, and Taiwan, and her research interests include digital electoral manipulation, tech and AI policy, democracy, and digital governance.
Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, Fatima started her career at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, working primarily with at-risk human rights defenders, training them on digital security and online human rights reporting mechanisms. In this role, she was also a part of a civil society election monitoring working group, and contributed regularly to the State of Human Rights in Pakistan annual reports.
