The International Counter Ransomware Initiative (CRI)–the world’s largest international cyber partnership–brings together over 74 member states and organizations to build international resilience to a global problem: ransomware. Ahead of its fifth gathering next week during Singapore International Cyber Week, IST is pleased to announce that the CRI has endorsed the Ransomware Task Force’s Blueprint for Ransomware Defense.
Small businesses represent 99.9% of all firms in the United States. In 2022, in response to the Ransomware Task Force’s (RTF) call for the cybersecurity community to “develop a clear, actionable framework for ransomware mitigation, response, and recovery,” an RTF Working Group developed the Blueprint for Ransomware Defense. Now available in multiple languages, this document outlines a curated subset of essential cyber hygiene Safeguards from the Center for Internet Security Critical Security Controls® (CIS Controls®) v8. The Blueprint’s 40 Safeguards represent a minimum standard of information security, leveraging CIS’s community defense model. When implemented correctly, a 2023 study found that the Blueprint can prevent 68% of attacks.
