We are now the Institute for Security and Technology (IST), with a mission to empower a diverse and innovative community to promote global security. Your continued inspiration and support for Technology for Global Security has enabled this evolution to become the Institute for Security and Technology — a shift that allows for further growth and the capacity to address a broader range of evolving technology and security challenges. Today, there is unprecedented disorder in our world and society. It is critical that we respond, and IST is taking action in this pivotal moment by doubling down on our commitment to mitigate the struggles so many are facing. Our competitive advantage rests in our ability to anticipate security challenges before they impact society through trust and foresight, convene unique leaders from the public and private sectors, and follow through by delivering results, creating markets, connecting with and ultimately informing policy.
To kick things off, IST will hosted a virtual launch event on August 4th from 1030-1200 PT, featuring discussions and Q&A sessions with leading experts on emerging security issues. We invite you to join us as we have the distinct honor to speak with:
• General Joseph Votel (Ret.), President and CEO, Business Executive for National Security; Former Commander, United States Central Command, United States Special Operations Command and United States Joint Special Operations Command
• Dr. Sarah Sewall, Executive Vice President for Policy, In-Q-Tel; Former Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights
• Dmitri Alperovitch, Executive Chairman, Silverado Policy Accelerator; Co-Founder and Former CTO, CrowdStrike
• Craig Newmark, Founder of craigslist and Craig Newmark Philanthropies
• Lauren Buitta, Founder & CEO, Girl Security
• Camille Stewart, Head of Security Policy, Google Play, and Android; Cofounder, Diversity in National Security Network
Thanks to your support, the Institute for Security and Technology will build solutions that enhance the security of the global commons. IST will maintain our same organizational values, as we reorganize our efforts for efficiency and effectiveness – and respond to a world shaken by emerging security threats. Our mission is to provide the tools and insights companies and governments need to outpace these risks, and our non-traditional approach will retain its bias towards action, as we build trust across domains, provide unprecedented access, and deliver and implement solutions.
