Brian Abeyta

Adjunct Senior Artificial Intelligence Policy Advisor

Brian Abeyta has dedicated his career to addressing national security and emerging technology challenges, with two decades of experience focused on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) risk reduction, and high-stakes international diplomacy. He has led complex international security programs and forged strategic partnerships with U.S. government agencies, foreign governments, and international organizations. His focus is building a coalition of national security professionals, AI researchers, and technologists to develop tangible solutions that address AI risks while considering geopolitical realities and technical constraints.

Brian was previously the Director for Pakistan at the White House. He was a senior advisor in the International Security and Nonproliferation Bureau at the State Department, and an international program director at the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration. He began his career at Sandia National Laboratories contributing to nuclear security cooperation with countries in the former Soviet Union through the Nunn-Lugar Program.
