Dr. Robert Baker is a senior policy advisor at the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD) in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He leads a broad range of radiological/nuclear (R/N) and countering WMD terrorism policy efforts, including policy development, coordination, implementation, and analysis for CWMD. His portfolio spans a variety of R/N topics from a homeland security perspective, from detection and nonproliferation efforts to nuclear forensics and attribution. He was previously an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the same office. A nuclear physicist by training, he earned a Ph.D. in physics from Louisiana State University and held a postdoctoral appointment at Ohio University.
