Malo Bourgon is a member of the AI-NC3 Executive Committee.

Malo Bourgon is Chief Executive Officer of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI), a nonprofit founded in 2000 to help ensure that the development of powerful artificial intelligence systems benefits humanity. He has been with MIRI since 2012, after completing a master’s degree in engineering at the University of Guelph, where he also studied engineering and computer science. Before becoming CEO, Bourgon served as a program management analyst and later as chief operating officer, helping to implement many of MIRI’s core systems, processes, and program activities. MIRI’s research helped establish the field of AI alignment, which examines how to build AI systems that reliably pursue human-intended goals.
