Matt Solomon is a member of the inaugural cohort of the Andrew Carnegie AI-Nuclear Policy Accelerator

Matt Solomon is a nuclear fuel cycle analyst at the Department of Energy focusing on nuclear materials production and global nonproliferation trends. In addition to his analytical work, he serves as the briefer to the Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation of the National Nuclear Security Administration informing of developments in nonproliferation, nuclear energy, strategic stability, and arms control.

Prior to this, Matt served as a Senior Watch Officer for the Department of Energy, providing situational awareness and periodic updates to senior Department of Energy customers and coordinating National Security Council meetings for all of the Department’s equities, and as a Technical Document Reviewer in the Office of Classification. Before joining the DOE, Matt was a submarine officer aboard the USS Missouri (SSN 780) stationed in both Pearl Harbor, HI and Groton, CT, after completing nuclear power and basic submarine officer training. He holds an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Boston College, and an MA from Georgetown University in Security Studies.
