IST Welcomes Microsoft as Presenting Partner for the Second Annual Cyber Policy Awards™

December 17, 2024 • WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Institute for Security and Technology (IST) is proud to announce Microsoft as the Presenting Partner for the upcoming Cyber Policy Awards. The Second Annual Cyber Policy Awards™ presented by Microsoft will be held on the evening of Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC.

“This event aims to recognize and celebrate those often working behind the scenes to ensure that cyberspace serves human expression, learning, and economic opportunity, and not fraud, harm, and global instability,” said event chairman and IST Chief Trust Officer Steve Kelly. “We are especially grateful to our friends at Microsoft for sharing this vision and helping to make this landmark event possible through their generous support.”

VP of Customer Security and Trust at Microsoft, Amy Hogan-Burney, said, “We are excited to support the Cyber Policy Awards™. It is important to take the time to celebrate the individuals and organizations making a significant impact in cybersecurity policy. Securing the technology that we all rely on takes expertise and hard work, and we are proud to honor the efforts of those that shape a safer, more resilient digital future for all.”

About the Cyber Policy Awards

The Cyber Policy Awards is an annual gathering of the U.S. cyber policy community, alongside key foreign partners, to honor and celebrate those who drove significant progress in the past year and to look ahead with resolve to confront challenges to come. The event brings together government officials, industry representatives, civil society groups, academic researchers, and members of the press who cover these complex topics. Awards will be given for U.S. Domestic Policy Impact, International Policy Impact, International Partnership, Ecosystem Champion, Research Impact, Excellence in Journalism, and Lifetime Achievement.

Recipients receive the Cyber Policy Award of Merit, which features “The Atlas” statuette representing the ultimate symbol of strength and endurance. The Ancient Greek Titan Atlas bears the cosmos and turns the sky on his shoulders for eternity. Atlas’ burden represents the skill, strength, and commitment required to positively influence domestic and international cyber policy. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement award will be inducted into the newly established U.S. Cyber Policy Hall of Fame.

The Inaugural Cyber Policy Awards, hosted by IST in partnership with the Center for Cybersecurity Policy and Law, was held on April 26, 2024 at Venable LLP in Washington, DC. Our august panel of judges evaluated 43 nominations, selecting sixteen finalists and four award recipients.

Going forward, the Cyber Policy Awards will be held each year in early February. For more information, visit https://www.cyberpolicyawards.org.
