Institute for Security and Technology Suggests Revising E-Rate
In a recent memo, IST Senior VP Nicholas Leiserson recommended policy changes to make the USF a resource for school cybersecurity, including expanding E-Rate coverage. The E-Rate program has already helped to close the internet connectivity gap, but connectivity without security leaves school districts vulnerable to attacks, IST Senior Director Michael Klein explained to Government Technology.

IST Unites Thirteen Superintendent, School Board, Principal, Technology, and State Leader Organizations to Form the K-12 Cyber Defense Coalition
As ransomware attacks against K-12 schools continue to increase, it is vital that education leaders convene to address cybersecurity policy and practice. Composed of 13 membership organizations representing superintendents, school boards, technology leaders, principals, and state leaders, IST's K-12 Cyber Defense Coalition will help to drive state and local collaboration, policy development, and information sharing to defend our nation’s schools from cyber threats.
