Gabrielle Tran is the Senior Associate for Technology and Society at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST), where she leads work at the intersection of AI governance, national security, and cognitive resilience. Her current portfolio examines how emerging technological capabilities challenge existing institutional frameworks and policy tools, with a particular focus on the national security implications of AI antitrust enforcement and improving interagency coordination on AI export control compliance.
Previously, Gabrielle led IST’s Generative Identity Initiative, an interdisciplinary project exploring how generative AI systems influence human cognition, social cohesion, and moral reasoning. Through convenings with technologists, ethicists, and policymakers, the initiative sought to translate ethical insights (and foresights) into practical interventions within AI development.
Gabrielle holds an MSc in Economic Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
